It’s that time again: Banned Books Week! Celebrating the Freedom to Read kicks off today and runs through October 6th. I first became aware of how big an event this is last year and finally decided to actively participate this year. I keep a shelf on Goodreads dedicated to Banned and/or Challenged books and there are a few on there that I’ve been meaning to read for a long time. Here is what I’m dedicating this week to reading:
by Hunter S. Thompson, Ralph Steadman (illustrator)
Challenged/Banned because of sexually explicit images and excessive drug usage.
by Nikki Sixx
Challenged/Banned because of complaints about explicit language, descriptions of drug use, and photos.
I sense a trend in my selections. Non-fiction, banned for drug use… that was not intentional. haha!
