Last Week’s… Obsessions

Image may contain: 1 person, ocean, sky, outdoor and water

I had been slowly chipping away at Parts Unknown on Netflix (I loved the first episode, but then promptly forgot). For obvious reasons, I was reminded of this wonderful show, as well as the fact that it’s due to leave Netflix on the 16th of this month so I’ve been watching as many as I can. Bourdain had such an avid fascination with experiencing the world that is simply wonderful to watch.

I started getting back into the world of Bookstagram and I had a lot of fun coming home from work and setting up some fun shots whilst battling the shit light in my house. lol I’m not the best at it and will be far from a regular poster but it’s something that I find enjoyment in and that’s enough for me.

I had no idea that Korn’s Jonathan Davis was doing his own thing these days until Basic Needs popped up on my New Release Radar on Spotify. The majority of music produced from lead singers branching off to do their new thing doesn’t really seem to work *cough*Aaron Lewis*cough* but this song is one I can listen on repeat.

Last Week’s… Obsessions

I haven’t been listening to audiobooks lately but I had to put a stop to that slump because Only Human released on May 1st. All three of these books have some of the best audiobook narration ever and the story is all sorts of fun.

I’ve used Kindle Unlimited a few times and there’s never quite enough for me to read that makes the $9.99 a month worth it. But when I got an e-mail today offering me 3 months for $1.99, well, I jumped on it. These 5 are the ones I think I’m going to try to prioritize (yes, that really is the most stereotypical romance cover I’ve ever seen–you know which one–but it’s been getting great reviews so I’ll give it a shot). I find their search catalog to be somewhat difficult to find good titles. Any recommendations?

Last Week’s… Obsessions

Work has been crazy hectic lately so I haven’t even been able to enjoy my normally loved music without it giving me a headache. Mello, ambient/instrumental playlists paired with rainy mood is such a lovely combination.

Indie Bookstore Day was yesterday! My city really only has one participating bookstore which is an absolute shame but it’s still something I look forward to every year. This years’ grab bag included two books I’m especially excited about: The Power by Naomi Alderman and The Dark Lake by Sarah Bailey.

When I was younger, my dream was to become a forensic scientist, so true crime and especially situations such as this where, through DNA, a case is solved decades later, it’s fascinating to me. McNamara does a superb job of presenting her years-long research in a truly riveting form. I haven’t been able to put this down and it’s really such a shame that she wasn’t able to see her determination in keeping the memory for the Golden State Killers crimes alive long enough to see him finally captured.

Image result for the 100 netflix

TV: I didn’t make it too far into Season 4 last year before I had to get rid of cable. It wasn’t until season 5 was announced that I realized I hadn’t ever got around to catching up again… so I binge-watched the entire season in 2 days. I’m ready for season 5 now!

Image result for black panther

I finally got to see Black Panther! It was all sorts of fantastic. I’m a big Marvel fan and of course, had to watch this one before Infinity War comes out next week.

I was obsessed with the Netflix show ‘Dark’ and equally obsessed with the soundtrack of sorts. I spent a lot of time creating a playlist of similar songs that possess the same moody vibe and it’s one of my go-to playlists these days.

Hope you guys have a great week!

Is it just me or did it seem like January equaled about 4 months and February flew by? Short month, sure, but seriously, where the heck did this month go? I quit my second job on the first of this month per doctors orders (I fucked up my ankle and haven’t really been giving it the best of healing opportunities. Working 60 hours is hard on ankles, yo.) so I’ve been taking it easy a lot and that involves reading and lots of Netflix. All in all, it hasn’t been a terrible month.

I once again went ages without posting any book hauls so this seems to have turned into more of a monthly thing instead. 🙂 I went a little wild on Audible this month what with the fantastic sale they had. I also signed up for a free trial of their new Romance Package and the selection is GOOD, guys. I’ve already listened to two and for only $7.95 a month (as an add-on to your audible membership) that’s not a bad deal at all for unlimited romance audios.
