It’s my favorite time of year! The season of horror!
My bestie always loves to question why I don’t just read horror literally any other time of the year since I love it so much and sure, I read the occasional horror, but I don’t dive headfirst into it like I do this time of year. I think a part of me worries if I overread it (or any other favorite genre, really) that I’ll stop loving it as much. I haven’t had the easiest time with reading this year so I’m really hoping that my Ominous October event will help me get back into the swing of things! 💀 Anddddd… I’m adding in 5 horror movies I’m planning on squeezing in at some point.
Home Before Dark by Riley Sager [Purchase]
Full Throttle by Joe Hill [Purchase]
Books of Blood: Volume One by Clive Barker [Purchase]
We Keep the Dead Close: A Murder at Harvard and a Half Century of Silence by Becky Cooper [Purchase]
Nightmares & Dreamscapes by Stephen King [Purchase]
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Midsommar
The Invisible Man
American Horror Story: Freak Show
#Alive
I tend to read horror year round, but there’s something about reading it in October that makes it better, right? Looks like you have an awesome bunch of books and movies planned😁
Great list! Home Before Dark sounds so good, I’d really like to try it.

Ooh. I do love horror this time of year! I’ve been wanting to watch Midsommar but keep chickening out. Maybe I’ll finally do it! I have a copy of Full Throttle that I still haven’t read, so I need to get to that as well. Hope you enjoy all of these!
It’s my favorite time as well! I thought Midsommar was extremely weird. Kind of not sure if I liked it or not. But #Alive is GREAT! You’ve got some good books on your list and did you know Hulu is putting out a Books of Blood series? I think it comes out next month.
Happy haunting season! My mom would be very stoked to see Nightmares and Dreamscapes – I think that remains her favorite King after all these years.
The spooky show I’m most looking forward to is Haunting of Bly Manor.
How did I forget Bly Manor?!
