I honestly didn’t read shit in school. When everyone reminsces, talking about all the horrid books they were forced to read? I can’t participate. But on the other end of the spectrum, I missed out on all the good ones as well. My book bestie Dani read all the books in school, so I asked for her advice on this post and this is what she had to recommend:
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
King Lear by William Shakespeare
Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
Bulfinch’s Mythology by Thomas Bulfinch
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
That Dani! She’s SO bossy. Happy reading friend 🙂
I read many of Dani’s books back when I was in school, and unlike you, I DID read some shit back then, too. Homer … Dickens … etc. I’m sure they’re great writers, but they weren’t for me. My TTT lists some sci-fi cat books to read instead of doing homework.

I really need to read Brave New World. I’ve had it on my TBR forever…

I own a copy of Withering Heights and I really enjoyed it when I read it! Maybe you should read them now, instead!! 😀

These are such great books! I forgot that I read The Martian Chronicles for a school project way back when. Don’t show my kid that Calvin & Hobbes — he’ll think it justifies his reading habits!

Ugh I still haven’t read Wuthering Heights (though I’ve tried several times & couldn’t get into it) and i’ve been out of high school a loooong time. lol.
