You can squeeze in a lot of reading in 3 years. So your top ten favorites from the last 3 years? It’s hard enough to come up with your ten favorites for a year end post but the following reads were certainly the most memorable.
Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas {Purchase}
I was in a series reading funk earlier this past January and this series was responsible for pulling me straight out of it. Crown of Midnight was easily the most memorable of the series. SO GOOD.
Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone by Kat Rosenfield {Purchase – My Review}
I love a good mystery, and I loved this one, but for the most part it was the writing that completely blew me away. I hope to one day write HALF as good as Kat Rosenfield.
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson {Purchase – My Review}
It’s a memoir and hands down the funniest book I have ever read in my life.
Fortune’s Pawn (Paradox #1) by Rachel Bach {Purchase – My Review}
I love a book that will keep me on the edge of my seat, a book that I cannot and will not put down and has me reading like an insane crazy person. This book did it all to me.
Night Film by Marisha Pessl {Purchase – My Review}
This book incorporated visuals into the story in such a brilliant way so as to make you feel like you were performing your own investigation. I have a love hate relationship with ambiguous endings but this is one of the best I’ve come across.
The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock {Purchase – My Review}
Southern Gothic fiction has quickly become a favorite of mine but this was the book that started it all. A perfect combination of gruesome and gritty.
Oryx and Crake (MaddAddam #1) by Margaret Atwood {Purchase – My Review}
This was my very first foray into Margaret Atwood (Yes, even before The Handmaid’s Tale) . But WOW. I’ve read some dystopian stories before but this one truly takes the cake.
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson {Purchase – My Review}
This was such a beautiful story. As I put in my review, “There truly aren’t enough adjectives in existence for me to properly describe how truly amazing I found this book to be.”
The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials #1) by Philip Pullman {Purchase}
I adored this story and seriously have no clue why it took me so long to finally read it. I initially listened to this on audio where Pullman himself narrates it. It was a real treat.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt {Purchase – My Review}
Another read that was a long time coming that I absolutely adored. Absolutely brilliant and truly compelling.
Yes yes yesss I completely agree with Crown of Midnight! I mean, I gave ALL OF THEM 5-stars (afjdklfs to the Assassin’s Blade) but CoM just sticks out as my favourite still. *flails wildly for Queen of Shadows*
Here’s my TTT!
hahaha I gave them all 5 stars too. Cannot wait for Queen of Shadows. 😀

Such an amazing list! And I have so many of these on my TBR pile. Life After Life, The Devil All the Time and Fortune’s Pawn. The Secret History is one of my all time fave books, and His Dark Materials trilogy AND Oryx and Crake!!! (Can you tell I love your list?)

Fortune’s Pawn was insanely good. The rest were good but not as great as the first but still well worth the read. 😀

Oh, such good choices! I’ve been thinking I’m due for a re-read of The Golden Compass… and I STILL haven’t read the 3rd book in the Atwood trilogy, despite absolutely loving Oryx & Crake. I do still need to read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened — I could use a good laugh!
