There’s something thoroughly satisfying about reading an excellent book from a brand new-to-you author. I don’t tend to branch out as often as I’d like, so when I do and it’s a great first meet, it’s even more exciting for me. 2016 introduced me to many new authors but these ten were by far my favorite introductions.
Sci-Fi/Fantasy…
The Last One by Alexandra Oliva [Review//Purchase]
The Voodoo Killings (Kincaid Strange #1) by Kristi Charish [Review//Purchase]
Sleeping Giants (Themis Files #1) by Sylvain Neuvel [Purchase]
Contemporary & Non-Fiction…
Heartburn by Nora Ephron [Review//Purchase]
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson [Review//Purchase]
Graphic Novels…
Revival by Tim Seeley [Purchase]
Lady Killer by Joëlle Jones [Purchase]
Horror…
The Thief of Always by Clive Barker [Purchase]
The Nest by Kenneth Oppel [Purchase]
Dead Souls by J. Lincoln Fenn [Review//Purchase]
I really wish my library would get Revival in. I really want to read it but I hate spending money on graphic novels since I usually breeze through them so fast. I just bought one called Legends, but it’s a dystopian where dogs are running the world so I knew I wouldn’t mind owning it. Great list!

Same here! It was on my wishlist for ages but my library finally bought it (after I bothered them for months). Hope yours cave eventually. 🙂
Nothing I absolutely have to have this week. The hot titles are definitely dwindling.
I discovered Bill Bryson for the first time this year too! I started with his latest book, The Road to Little Dribbling (I highly recommend the audiobook), and followed up with A Walk in the Woods. He is definitely one of my new favorite authors.
