Waiting on Wednesday (2)

Hi everybody! Thanks for stopping by. Today’s post is ‘Waiting on Wednesday’ which is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we’re super excited about.

There are so many awesome looking books coming out in 2012, but one that I’m most anticipating is, and one that comes out quite soon is:

Title: The Thorn and the Blossom: A Two-Sided Love Story
Author: Theodora Goss
Publisher: Quirk Books
Expected Release Date: January 17th, 2012 (next Tuesday!)

Description from Goodreads:
One enchanting romance. Two lovers keeping secrets. And a uniquely crafted book that binds their stories forever.

When Evelyn Morgan walked into the village bookstore, she didn’t know she would meet the love of her life. When Brendan Thorne handed her a medieval romance, he didn’t know it would change the course of his future. It was almost as if they were the cursed lovers in the old book itself . . .

The Thorn and the Blossom
is a remarkable literary artifact: You can open the book in either direction to decide whether you’ll first read Brendan’s, or Evelyn’s account of the mysterious love affair. Choose a side, read it like a regular novel—and when you get to the end, you’ll find yourself at a whole new beginning.

What really captured my interest was the last paragraph about the book being able to open in either direction; plus I really like the idea of a story told in full with a double narrative. This special touch will definitely be lost when reading on ebook so this is one I’ll be reading in normal book format. 🙂

The format of this one sounds so very cool! And you’re right, the novelty of it would be completely lost on an e-book – this really is one that I think you’d have to read a physical copy of to fully appreciate.
