Showcase Sunday (73)

Posted March 2, 2014 by Bonnie in Sunday Book Haul / 10 Comments

Super quiet week for the most part. I bought one book last weekend and picked up a single library book. Which is silly, since I have plenty of ones checked out already to read but I saw this and decided it was time I finally got to it.

What new book goodies did you get this week? Leave me a link to your post and I’ll be sure to stop by!

Crimes in Southern Indiana: Stories by Frank Bill {Purchase}

I’ve become a big fan of southern gothic novels. I blame The Devil All the Time. And Rory. Have heard some excellently gruesome stuff about Frank Bill’s novels so I snagged this one up at my local used bookstore for $2! Can’t beat that.

Iced (Dani O’Malley Trilogy #1) by Karen Marie Moning {Purchase}

I’m a crazy Fever fan but I haven’t gotten around to this one yet. The reviews have been a bit discouraging but I still have to read it, so fingers crossed it goes well.

  1. Of all the things I’ve been blamed for, this is one of the best and I’m willing to take full credit. 😉

    If you end up liking (at least parts of) Crimes in Southern Indiana, you HAVE to read Donnybrook.

    I liked the Fever series (when the Mac stopped irritating me), but of the reviews I’ve read of ICED, I can totally see why all the (sexual) interest in a young girl could be kind of gross.

    • Donnybrook is already on my list (also because of you) so I’ve got my eyes out for that one.

      Iced. Man. Yeah the sexual interest in a 14 year old was too much. But I’ve heard that Moning has aged Dani in Burned, she’ll be 19, so that’s much more acceptable. Just as long as she doesn’t say feck anymore. Or dude.

    • *sigh* So I’m nearing the end and MAN if Dani was older so the sexual bits weren’t creepy and she talked like a normal human being and actually said fuck I would have zero issues with this book.
