Showcase Sunday (75)

Posted March 23, 2014 by Bonnie in Sunday Book Haul / 6 Comments

Hello everyone! Hope you all had fabulous weeks and are having even better weekends. This week took forever to end so this weekend has been a long time coming for me. I was even able to squeeze in some time to hit up my local bookstore and found some good ones to bring home. A few review books also came my way so without further ado…

For Review

The Forever Song (Blood of Eden #3)Β by Julie Kagawa {Purchase}

While I was admittedly super stoked when I got approved for this, the first 25% has been a bit of a disappointment. It’s currently on hold at the moment but I plan on picking it up again soon with hopes that there’s more excitement.

Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows #1) by Kim Harrison {Purchase}

So installment #12 just came out in this series so CLEARLY I’m a bit behind. The nice folks over at Harper Voyager sent a copy my way so I’m really looking forward to getting started! Thank you!

Library Books

Cujo by Stephen King {Purchase}
Skeleton Crew by Stephen King {Purchase}

I picked Cujo up from the library because it’s one I’ve been meaning to get around to for a while now and Rory atΒ Fourth Street ReviewsΒ is hosting a King Event for the entire month and I really wanted to participate. I enjoyed Cujo so much I jumped right into another King. Be on the look out for my review of Cujo later this week!

Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles #1) by Sophie Jordan {Purchase}

I won a Kindle copy of Foreplay from the author. I’ve heard this is one New Adult that is definitely worth the read so I’m looking forward to this. Thank you, Sophie!

The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower #1) by Stephen King {Purchase}
Everything’s Eventual: 14 Dark Tales by Stephen King {Purchase}
The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes NovelΒ by Anthony Horowitz {Purchase}

I’ve been eyeing his Dark Tower series for quite some time and after discovering the prequel is inside ‘Everything’s Eventual’ I knew I’d have to read that beforehand. Finding a great condition Hardcover of EE and the illustrated copy of Gunslinger made it a given they’d be coming home with me. I also picked up a Sherlock Holmes type book that I’ve been interested in for quite some time.

What new book goodies did you guys get this week! Share your link below and I’ll be sure to stop by and say hello. πŸ™‚

  1. I do hope that when you go back to The Forever Song that you end up enjoying it much more than me and Faye did, it’s a shame as a lot of final books in a series have been disappointing as of late πŸ™ I have however read some amazing reviews for Foreplay, so look forward to seeing how you get on with it! Happy reading Bonnie! πŸ™‚

    • I’ve been having the same problem with disappointing finales. Makes you really disappointed you even bothered but oh well. Guess you never know unless you try. πŸ™‚

  2. You know, I’ve never read a Stephen King novel. That’s definitely something to do sooner rather than later–there has to be a reason he’s so beloved! πŸ™‚ I’ve heard a lot about Foreplay too, so I’m looking forward to your review if you review it.

    Have a great week, Bonnie! πŸ™‚

    • I finally read my first Stephen King book in 2011 and I think I’ve read about 11 total already. They’re fantastic and so well written. I’d start with some of his older books, they seem to be the best. When do you get around to it that is. haha Hope you have a great week too Rachel! πŸ™‚
