Reading slumps are the worst and suddenly picking your next read is the hardest thing you’ve ever done. Sometimes nothing works for you, regardless of size or genre, and that’s when you just need to have a Netflix binge. We’ve all been there. But if you’re not quite to that point, maybe shorter works is the answer. Reading short stories and/or novellas helps get me through because it also gives me a great sense of accomplishment, knocking out a book after no time at all. I broke this up into genres (for you mood readers like me) and they are all under 200 pages. Here’s hoping if you’re stuck in a slump that something here sparks your interest.

Ooh some good ones on here I haven’t thought about in a long time! 84 Charing Cross Road! The Pigeon! Cycle of the Werewolf! And I’m definitely going to check out the Nevertheless She Persisted stories. Thanks for sharing! I’ve read a couple of the Nevertheless She Persisted stories and they are excellent. Hope you enjoy! Bonnie recently posted…Stacking the Shelves (168)
Huh, I didn’t know Gabriel García Márquez had written anything short. Hard to imagine after One Hundred Years of Solitude! I would really like to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane Sometime. My grandmother actually recommended it to me originally and I *still* have yet to read it. Kate @ Parchment Girl recently posted…My Top 10 Favorite ISTP Characters in Books + Film
That is actually the only Márquez I’ve read surprisingly but someday I’ll read Solitude. 🙂 And yes, Ocean at the End of the Lane was quite lovely. Different from his normal stuff but still well worth the read. Bonnie recently posted…Stacking the Shelves (168)
The Uncommon Reader is on my list this week too — such fun! I need to read the copy of 84 Charing Cross Road that’s been on my shelf for ages. I read another Marquez book that’s also short, don’t know why I didn’t think to include it this week (Of Love and Other Demons). Great list! 84 Charing Cross Road is SO lovely… someone recommended it to me years ago and I’m still surprised I picked it up but so glad that I did. Bonnie recently posted…Stacking the Shelves (168)
