A book doesn’t require a billion pages to be amazing. Sometimes the best stories have the fewest words. From a mere 4 pages up to 102, these are ten stories in miniature that I couldn’t help but wish for more pages.
Throttle by Joe Hill and Stephen King [Purchase]
The Pigeon by Patrick Süskind [Purchase]
We Have Always Lived on Mars by Cecil Castellucci [Purchase]
Apocalypse Scenario #683: The Box (Newsflesh 0.1) by Mira Grant [Purchase]
If You’re Not Yet Like Me by Edan Lepucki [Purchase]
The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe [Purchase]
The End of the Party by Graham Greene
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury
The Dead by James Joyce [Purchase]
If You’re Not Yet Like Me intrigues me! It’s something about that cover!
It was quite good! I didn’t care for her novel but her short story super worked for me.

The Lottery has been on my TBR for a long time. The premice makes me so mad, though, I am not sure if I will ever read it. My favorite short stories
It’s quite shocking and I had no idea the ending going into it so that was a surprise. Not the best one, but a surprise. haha

Poe is always great and I don’t think I’ve ever read Throttle. Need to look into that one!
It was inspired by a Richard Matheson story. Quite good for a shortie.

We Have Always Lived on Mars sounds interesting. The Raven is a classic though.

I need to read more of hers! The Haunting of Hill House is one of my favorite classic horror stories ever.

Great list! The Lottery made my list, too. I thought about adding The Raven, but I already had another Poe story on there.

I really love all of Mira Grant’s shorties. They don’t usually add a lot to the series itself but they are so worth it.

I’ve read all the stories in the Rise collection, and loved them. I love all the Toby-verse stories she writes as Seanan McGuire, although there are way more than I can keep up with!

Yep, she published a bunch for her Patreon thing which I don’t contribute to but have been considering it.

I didn’t realize Stephen King wrote any short story/novellas. I will have to check that one out 🙂 Great miniature list ❤

We Have Always Lived on Mars is probably my favorite short story of the year. I’m so glad we read that and can’t wait for it to be a movie!

I’m sure it kind of spoils the shock factor the movie is going to also provide but I’m still excited for the movie. 🙂 Krasinski is the man.
