Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday reviews the latest ten additions to my TBR shelf. So, the books I’ve added in the last few days.
Mr. Splitfoot by Samantha Hunt
Why I Added: Rory’s reviews almost always convince me to read something and her review of Mr. Splitfoot wasn’t any different.
And Again by Jessica Chiarella
Why I Added: The Age of Miracles is one of my all-time favs. Comparisons don’t always work for me but I’m willing to give it a shot.
The Woman Who Walked Into Doors (Paula Spencer #1) by Roddy Doyle
Why I Added: It was referenced in this article as one of J.K. Rowling’s favorite books so of course I have to read this.
Shadowland (The Mediator #1) by Meg Cabot
Why I Added: I’ve loved so many of Cabot’s books but never got around to this one. The recent release of #7 has resurrected that desire.
The Lost Recipe for Happiness by Barbara O’Neal
Why I Added: I’m always on the lookout for cute foodie books and I love the sound of this one.
I Feel Bad about My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman by Nora Ephron
Why I Added: I wanted to read anything and everything by Ephron after finishing Heartburn. Plus, it’s on this list. I failed the “Books you should read in your 20s” list so I’m aiming to not fail this one.
The Liars’ Club by Mary Karr and Tenth of December: Stories by George Saunders
Why I Added: I added both of these after a New York Times article where Mary Louise Parker talked about some of her literary favorites.
My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem
Why I Added: I’d hazard a guess that anyone that added this recently did so because Emma Watson’s new book club is reading it.
Room by Emma Donoghue
Why I Added: This never got enough superb reviews to make me want to pick it up but… It’s being made into a movie. I’m a sucker for those.
I read Room a while back and loved it– I’m seeing the movie later tonight, so we’ll see how that goes. I also put My Life on the Road on my list a couple months ago, because I’m a big Gloria Steinem fan. Good luck with your list!

I’m excited to read “My Life on the Road”. I heard Steinem read a snippet of the book and really liked what I heard. It was funny and insightful, so I’m hoping the whole book will be like that.
I listened to “I Feel Bad About My Neck” a few years ago. It was pretty entertaining.

Gloria Steinem’s memoir sounds fascinating, reading memoirs is like living all sorts of different lives, all from the comfort of your own!

Room is an amazing book, but so emotionally draining that I haven’t been able to bring myself to see the movie yet (although I really should). And Again sounds like something that would appeal to me… but I’m a little wary of comparisons to Station Eleven. (I wish they’d stop promoting books this way — it just never works for me!) I need to go read up on Mr. Splitfoot! And I do want to read the Gloria Steinem book as well, but not because of Emma Watson. 🙂 Have fun — looks like you have some great books coming up!
