Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Nothing makes a book better than a badass lady. When I first started compiling this list there were so many to choose from, which was refreshing to see, so minimizing this list took some time. I settled on 10 of my favorite ladies from Young Adult lit and Adult lit.
Devi: Fortune’s Pawn (Paradox #1) by Rachel Bach
Cotter leaned forward. “Where do you get off being such a bossy bitch?”
I looked him dead in the eyes. “I was born a bossy bitch, so you can either roll with it or get rolled over.”
Kara: Sleeping Giants (Themis Files #1) by Sylvain Neuvel
“Perhaps, deep down inside that rugged shell of yours, there is a little girl desperately waiting for her Prince Charming to propose.”
“Of course there is. Only until now, I’d been pretty successful at keeping that little brat’s mouth shut.”
Ree: Winter’s Bone by Daniel Woodrell
“Never. Never ask for what ought to be offered.”
Constance Kopp: Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart
He looked up and said, in a loud, plain voice, “She’s not a regular lady.”
Rosetta: I Shall be Near to You by Erin Lindsay McCabe
“All these boys, all these men, they are something to someone. There are people back home, waiting on them and the waiting ain’t never going to end now. For the rest of my life I am waiting too.”
Aelin: Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas
“We all bear scars,… Mine just happen to be more visible than most.”
Ismae: Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by Robin LaFevers
“I comfort myself with the knowledge that if Duval ever feels smothered by me, it will be because I am holding a pillow over his face.”
Darla: Ashfall (Ashfall #1) by Mike Mullin
Darla had been doing something by the fire. Now she returned and began stripping the blanket off me. I grabbed it before she could pull it away from my groin, to preserve my modesty.
“Let go. There’s nothing there I haven’t seen. Who do you think undressed you, anyway? And honestly, I’ve seen better equipment on goats.”
Lucy: The Screaming Staircase (Lockwood & Co. #1) by Jonathan Stroud
“I wasn’t pretty, but as my mother once said, prettiness wasn’t my profession.”
Puck: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
“My mother always said that I was born out of a bottle of vinegar instead of born from a womb and that she and my father bathed me in sugar for three days to wash it off. I try to behave, but I always go back to the vinegar.”
I had the same topic except I added “snarky” with mine too. I’m so glad there are so many strong female characters to choose from that we didn’t even repeat any. Nice list and I’ll have to check some of these out!

Ha ha, great idea pairing your book choices with quotes. There are quite a few books I need to read on this list😀

Thanks! I thought about finding fan art pictures to match with the book covers but thought a quote would get their badass-ness across more. lol

Oo such a cool topic! Haha I loved the quotes– the books all sound fun.
For my TTT I interpreted the prompt in a very similar way– I wrote about BA women adventures from some of my favorite nonfiction books 🙂
