Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Today, I’m talking about all the book series I haven’t finished yet. And yea, my goal is to limit it down to ten (ha). This topic was used back in 2012 so I thought it would be a genius idea to check in on my list from 3 years ago and see how I did! What a mistake. I listed 9 series with multiple books needing to be read in order to be caught up and 7 series where I only needed to read 1 book! How many of the 16 have I actually accomplished since then?? TWO.
Clearly, if I don’t stay on top of a series, they never get read. Here’s a new list of ten series I need to get caught up (all new ones too) that I can likely feel bad about not having read in another 3 years.
Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels #7) by Ilona Andrews
Kate Daniels has been one of my all-time favorites but the 6th installment was massively disappointing and I’ve heard the 7th is equally so. The 8th just came out so I’m extremely behind but will catch up… someday.
Fury of the Demon (Kara Gillian #6) by Diana Rowland
There’s already a 7th installment out and an 8th coming soon. I really loved the beginning of this series but it’s kind of fizzled out for me.
Biting Bad (Chicagoland Vampires #8) by Chloe Neill
Another series that has simply fizzled out for me. I’m waaayyy behind in this series though. I think #12 is coming out this Spring. I’m noting a trend in the higher installment numbers…
Burned (Fever #7) by Karen Marie Moning
So, I’m apparently just behind in ALL the Urban Fantasy series. I decided I’d treat myself to a re-read of Fever before I dove into this one just to refresh my memory but my re-read got paused on book 4.
Ruin and Rising (The Grisha #3) by Leigh Bardugo
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two installments which I read pretty back to back, however, by the time this one came around I had pretty much forgotten what had happened. I just need to dig up a recap and get this one knocked out.
End of Days (Penryn & the End of Days #3) by Susan Ee
There are two reasons I haven’t picked this one up: 1. Book 2 was quite disappointing and I was pretty indifferent about picking this one up. 2. The reviews haven’t been too great.
Lair of Dreams (The Diviners #2) by Libba Bray
This one JUST came out but I’m still super anxious to get my hands on a copy. I’m waiting for my library to (hopefully) buy the audiobook.
Thor’s Serpents (The Blackwell Pages #3) by K.L. Armstrong & M. A. Marr
This has been an extremely fun series à la Percy Jackson and I’m sad to see it end. I just won a copy of this recently so I’m anxious to make time for it.
Blue Sea Burning (The Chronicles of Egg #3) by Geoff Rodkey
This is one of those series that I likely wouldn’t have ever picked up if I hadn’t been sent a surprise ARC. I need to pick up a copy from the library and get this one read.
The Duke’s Perfect Wife (MacKenzies & McBrides #4) by Jennifer Ashley
I don’t read a lot of historical romances for the primary reason that I cannot seem to figure out to review them and since I’m always scrabbling for things to post, this genre gets pushed to the back burner. It’s a shame, because it’s a total favorite of mine. This series is one of my favs and I’ve fallen dreadfully behind. #8 comes out at the end of this month.
