Ahhh… the beach.

So, I don’t really care for the beach. (Cue gasps of outrage) Well, to be more specific I don’t really care for the sun and the sun and the beach usually go hand in hand. Beaches are beautiful but the only way I can appreciate it is if it’s nice and overcast or if I’m hiding under a very large umbrella. But when I think of ‘beach reads’ I think of something romantic and something with a little humor and sometimes something with a hint of paranormal. Here are a few of my favorites:

Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1) by Rachel Hawkins {Purchase}
Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie & Bob Mayer {Purchase}
Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster {Purchase}

Craving Perfect by Liz Fichera {Purchase}
Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros {Purchase}

Good in Bed (Cannie Shapiro #1) by Jennifer Weiner {Purchase}
Tempest Rising (Jane True #1) by Nicole Peeler {Purchase}

Queen of Babble (Queen of Babble #1) by Meg Cabot {Purchase}
First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1) by Darynda Jones {Purchase}
The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella {Purchase}
What do you like to read at the beach?
Great list! New follower here:)

Yay for Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella! I could read their books all day long over the Summer! I still need to pick up a book by Jen Lancaster, her books sound like so much fun! Brilliant list Bonnie! 🙂

Jasprit picked Meg Cabot as well! I loved Nantucket Blue and I think that would be a perfect beach read. Thanks for sharing, Bonnie. 🙂

I've been wanting to read Hex Hall and I still need to check out Sophie Kinsella

I've been meaning to read Tempest Rising forever! Perhaps this will give me the kick I've been needing!

Sophie Kinsella is a great 'beach read' author. I've really enjoyed her books! Great list.

Agnes and the Hitman!! what a great book
What a fun list! I love Hex Hall and Good in Bed, and the rest are new to me, so thanks! I'm with you, I don't overly love the sun since I burn, but luckily in northern California my beach trips are usually a nice mix of sun and fog, so it's never overwhelming. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I should really check out more from Meg Cabot, especially since I've completely ran out of Sophie Kinsella books to read. 🙂
I haven't read that one yet but it's been getting such fabulous reviews I've added it to Mount TBR. 🙂
Hex Hall is tons of fun! Enjoyed the spin-off (School Spirits) as well. 🙂 Kinsella is definitely worth checking out if you like chick-lit/contemporary.
It's one of my favorites! Lots of fun and the main character is hilarious. Hope you enjoy them if you do pick them up!
hahaha Yes, sand does suck I agree. 🙂
Shopaholic was NOT her best but was still somewhat enjoyable. (Becky was super annoying, right?) I should check out Oregon. I'll add it to my list of potential next vacation spots. 😀
I used to live in Northern California and it never got too hot or too cool since i lived near the ocean… it's way too hot where I live now!
Yes… Good in Bed did have some sad parts. Good point. Honestly, I'm surprised I came up with 10, 'beach' reads is not my go-to genre. lol
Oh yeah, I would definitely take anything written by Sophie Kinsella to read at the beach. Her books me smile all the time. 🙂
First Grave on the Right would be great on the beach!
And, I don't care for the beach either, but for me, it's the sand. I hate that it gets EVERYWHERE!

I have Tempest Rising on my beach list too — perfect! Good in Bed is one that I thought about — but there are parts that make me so sad… and I don't want to be sad at the beach. 🙂 I'll have to check out a few more of these. Great list!

Jennifer Crusie and Sophie Kinsella are PERFECT beach reads. I haven't read enough by either. I've never read Weiner before, but so many people read her books. I may have to look into those. In fact, I wasnt to check out all the books on this list! Awesome choices, Bonnie!
I just saw Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella on Reader's Den. I have only read the first Shopaholic book and did not care for it but I should try another of her books. I have yet to read a Cabot book, I know gasp. Gotta love Darynda. If you want cool and cloudy beaches try Oregon.

Haha, your commentary on the beach makes me think you should go to England. One time when I saw Maureen Johnson, she started talking about holidays in England involve going to the beach and sitting in the car because it's raining. :-p
