Hi everybody! Thanks for stopping by. Today’s post is ‘Waiting on Wednesday’ which is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we’re super excited about.
Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1)
Perdition (Dred Chronicles #1)
by Ann Aguirre
Expected publication: August 27th 2013 by Ace

The prison ship Perdition, a floating city where the Conglomerate’s most dangerous criminals are confined for life, orbits endlessly around a barren asteroid.

Life inside is even more bleak. Hailed as the Dread Queen, inmate Dresdemona “Dred” Devos controls one of Perdition’s six territories, bordered on both sides by would-be kings eager to challenge her claim. Keeping them at bay requires constant vigilance, as well as a steady influx of new recruits to replace the fallen. Survival is a constant battle, and death is the only escape.

Of the newest convicts, only one is worth Dred’s attention. The mercenary Jael, with his deadly gaze and attitude, may be the most dangerous criminal onboard. His combat skill could give her the edge she needs, if he doesn’t betray her first. Unfortunately, that’s what he does best. Winning Jael’s allegiance will be a challenge, but failure could be worse than death…

This is a new trilogy that’s actually set in the Jax universe (her Sirantha Jax series for those that don’t know). I’ve only read the first two but really enjoyed them so I’m really looking forward to this one. Should probably finish one series before starting another though. 🙂

  1. OH MY GOSH, this sounds so awesome!!! I haven't gotten to read Ann Aguirre's other series yet, but this is now definitely on my list!! Great pick. 😀

I love Ann Aguirre's YA series, and I have a couple of the Sirantha Jax books, but I haven't gotten to them yet. I didn't even KNOW she had another series coming out, though. Guess I've got some catching up to do! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I haven't read any of Aguirre's adult yet but I did read the first book in her zombie YA series… why can't I think of the name! Outpost? Maybe that was the second one… anyway I read the first one and wasn't a huge fan but maybe I would like her adult work better!

  4. Wow that cover! She's tough and sexy looking all at once. I really need to pick up an Ann Aguirre novel with all the raving reviews I see of her. Great pick Bonnie. 🙂

How does Ann do it? She must write like a fiend. I had no idea this was coming out, I can’t believe Maja didn’t tell me. I will be watching for it. BTW… I couldn’t add your blog on Blog Lovin. I don’t know what the hang up is. You might want to look into it because everyone is migrating over there and I must admit I really like it!

  6. Maja (The Nocturnal Library)

YES! I read this one maybe two months ago and loved every word! I more or less know what you like, I’m pretty sure you’re going to enjoy it. It’s darker than you’d expect.

Huh. This sounds kinda awesome. I haven’t read the Sirantha Jax series yet but I wonder if this could be read for someone who hasn’t read that. Because it sounds really exciting!
