The Ocean at the End of the Lane
by Neil Gaiman
Expected publication: June 18th 2013 by William Morrow Books

THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE is a fable that reshapes modern fantasy: moving, terrifying and elegiac – as pure as a dream, as delicate as a butterfly’s wing, as dangerous as a knife in the dark, from storytelling genius Neil Gaiman.ย

It began for our narrator forty years ago when the family lodger stole their car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left undisturbed. Dark creatures from beyond the world are on the loose, and it will take everything our narrator has just to stay alive: there is primal horror here, and menace unleashed – within his family and from the forces that have gathered to destroy it.ย

His only defense is three women, on a farm at the end of the lane. The youngest of them claims that her duckpond is ocean. The oldest can remember the Big Bang.
Okay, this? ย Sounds fantastic. Neil Gaiman is always incredible though. It doesn’t help that I’m so loving the cover.

I must have been living under a rock as I had no idea Neil Gaiman had a new book scheduled for 2013! This sounds really interesting and I love the cover too. Great pick, Bonnie!

I remember seeing a close up image of the girl on the cover on Pinterest, staring up at the stars from within the water and thinking it was one of the most beautiful images I've seen, ever. I didn't know it was a book cover, so thank you for that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But anyhow, this book sounds fascinating and it IS written by writer extraordinaire, Neil Gaiman. Really, really excited to read it…
