Hi everybody! Thanks for stopping by. Today’s post is ‘Waiting on Wednesday’ which is a weekly blog feature hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we’re super excited about.

The Outcasts: A Novel
by Kathleen Kent
Expected publication: October 1st 2013 by Little, Brown and Company
A taut, thrilling adventure story about buried treasure, a manhunt, and a woman determined to make a new life for herself in the old west.
It’s the 19th century on the GulfCoast, a time of opportunity and lawlessness. After escaping the Texas brothel where she’d been a virtual prisoner, Lucinda Carter heads for Middle Bayou to meet her lover, who has a plan to make them both rich, chasing rumors of a pirate’s buried treasure.
Meanwhile Nate Cannon, a young Texas policeman with a pure heart and a strong sense of justice, is on the hunt for a ruthless killer named McGill who has claimed the lives of men, women, and even children across the frontier. Who–if anyone–will survive when their paths finally cross?
As Lucinda and Nate’s stories converge, guns are drawn, debts are paid, and Kathleen Kent delivers an unforgettable portrait of a woman who will stop at nothing to make a new life for herself.

  1. I've had a great run lately with books totally out of my comfort zone and The Outcasts definitely sounds like something that I would enjoy. I'm definitely in the mood for a thrilling adventure! Thanks for putting this on my radar Bonnie! 🙂

  3. Wow, rare to find a book set near where I live. Usually when I do find one, it's got a similar time setting, though. I guess Texas was only interesting back in the early days of the US! Nice pick this week. I hadn't heard of The Outcasts!

  6. Creeepy cover. But I am intrigued for sure! I'm not a big Adult book reader, but I'm kind of excited at the prospect of a book that is set in the old west!
