The author of the #1 New York Times bestseller and global phenomenon The Girl on the Train returns with Into the Water, her addictive new novel of psychological suspense.
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.
Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return. With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply satisfying read that hinges on the deceptiveness of emotion and memory, as well as the devastating ways that the past can reach a long arm into the present.
Beware a calm surface—you never know what lies beneath.
It took me forever to finally cave and read the insanely hyped The Girl on the Train but damn did I ever love it. This one sounds fantastic and the end line of the blurb leaves you with an eerie sense of excitement.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
I enjoyed Girl on Train but it certainly didn’t rate as a top read. Will probably wait for some trusted bloggers to read this one before I go there!
This cover is awesome. I never read “Girl on the Train” but I did see the movie. I’ve heard the book was better (isn’t that always the case?) I plan on picking this one up though.

I had this on my Spring 2017 picks list. I just got notification from my library yesterday that they will be getting the audiobook and I am on the wait list.
I was actually sort of let down by The Girl on the Train, which I’m still gutted about, as I had such high hopes for it! But Into the Water sounds fantastic! And the cover is creepy but eye catching as hell! Thank you for putting this book on my radar Bonnie!

I started Girl on the Train and didn’t finish it because I didn’t like the main character. A friend later told me the whole tale and I wished I stuck with it. I just watched the last quarter (my husband was watching it downstairs while I was upstairs and didn’t tell!) the other night and thought the movie seemed pretty good. Husband said the movie before that point wasn’t all that great because he didn’t know what was going on. Lol. This new one sounds really good. Great choice, Bonnie! 🙂
